Individual Note: Augustus Harris was a doctor from Stephentown, Rens. County, NY. Dr. Harris practiced medicine in Bethlehem Albany County from 1803 to 1817 when he and his family moved to Van Buren, NY where he died.

Individual Note: Nicholas Harris, M.D. probably born in Scituate, R.I., but later of Cranston, R.I.
From Landmarks of Rensselaer County, New York, page 495 "Dr. Nicholas Harris enjoyed an extensive practice, not only in Stephentown, but in other towns of Rensselaer County and in Massachusetts."
He served throughout the American Revolution as a private in Colonel Killian Van Rensselaer's regiment, Albany County Militia. (New York in the Revolution, page 105) "He was in four important battles--Battle of Johnstown, 1777 and Caughuawaga 1777, Oriskany August 3, 1777 and Saratoga October 7, 1777. For a time he served under Colonel Willett and was with him at the Battle of Oriskany when he made his famous dash on the British camp with his 250 men and captured prisoners, camp, equipage and five flags."
The remains were moved from the graveyard on a farm in North Stephentown and buried in a lot belonging to Mrs. Thomas H. Ham, in Albany Rural Cemetery, October 30, 1902. [Gen. of Nich. Harris]

Individual Note: Jebediah had land deeded to him by his father, Nicholas Harris, in 1732, in Scituate, (which town was set off from Providence in 1731) and was made Freeman in Scituate in May, 1733. Their children were probably all born in Scituate, RI.

Individual Note: The will of Nicholas Harris was made July 16, 1725, and proved in 1746. He left a great deal of land to his children. [Gen. of Nicholas Harris, 1904]
Will proved Apr 27 1746, executed by wife, Anne and son, Thomas. To sons Thomas and Joseph,
homestead, lands and tenements when of age, with equal privilege to wife Ann and son thomas, till Joseph
if of age. After Joseph is of age, wife Ann to have a convenient room, and son Thomas to provide for her
and also to provide for daughter Amity. To sons, Nichols and Jedediah, land west of Seven Mile line. To
son, Christopher, 2 acres with two rows of apple trees and convenience of water to setting up a smith's
shop. To daughter Ann Kilton, 5s. To daughter Zerviah Waterman, 10 pounds. To daughters Mary and
Sarah Harris, 25 pounds each, at age of twenty-one or marriage. Rest to wife and son thomas.
Codicil (Apr 22 1739) gives the homestead toThomas and Christopher. To Joseph, some land before
given to Nicholas, and to Nicholas 100 pounds, &c.
Inventory, 383 pounds, large bible and other books, warming pan, spinning whells, Bills of Credit ,
stillyards, pewter, 3 steers, 3 cows, heffer, ox, sheep.
