Edward Joseph (aka "Ted") Burke, son of Richard Ambrose and Elizabeth (Crilley) Burke, was educated at the University of Kansas where he was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity. He served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy during World War II.

He married Rhea Maxine Frazier, daughter of Arthur and Minna E. (Fagg) Frazier. They adopted two children; Rhea's cousin, Victor Dale Kelly, whose parents died in 1936, and Patricia Ann Burke.

In 1950, he opened Burke's Prescription Center at Medical Arts Square in Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico and was in business there until he retired.

Ted was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and a member of the American Contract Bridge League.

A quintessential Irishman, he loved to fish and play duplicate bridge. Interment is at the Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico.

Edward "Ted" Burke's obituary appeared in the January 16, 1994 edition of the Albuquerque Journal. He is buried at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico.

Harry Russel Doan, son of Arthur and Minerva (Davis) Doan, appears on the 1910 Federal Census in Liberty, Guernsey County, Ohio. That census shows 22 year-old Harry was a widowed telegraph opertor, born in Ohio. He reported that his parents were also born in Ohio.

He married Josephine Ione Kelly, daughter of Joseph Patrick and Eliza Jane (Bishop) Kelly.

Harry appears on the 1920 Federal Census in Miami, Ottawa County, Oklahoma, giving his age as 32 and occupation as manager of a drugstore. That census shows that he and his parents were born in Ohio.

Harry Russel Doan operated a paint store in Miami, Oklahoma in the 1920's. He took over ownership of Doan's Pharmacy, which had been started around 1908 by his uncle, Dr. E. R. Doan. At the time he assumed control of the pharmacy in 1915, it was located on A Street SE and was later moved to 5 South Main Street. The pharmacy was sold in 1950 to Harry T. Doan, who later moved it to a spot near Miami Baptist Hospital.

Harry Russel Doan retired in 1950. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and belonged to the Woodsfield, Monroe County, Ohio, Methodist Church.

He is buried in the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery (GAR) in Miami, Ottawa County, Oklahoma.

     Sadie Virginia Hardin was first married Joseph Wolfe Joseph, a baker of Greek descent (his parents emigrated from Turkey) and believed to have been of the Jewish faith. They appear together on the 1920 Federal Census in Posey County, Indiana.

Sadie was fluent in German, having been raised in a German community in Illinois. Sadie played the piano and guitar, was of Methodist faith, and a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) - Rebekha. She spoke with a "drawl."

Sadie passed away hours after childbirth. Sadie's obituary appeared in the Baxter Springs Citizen and Herald on October 19, 1936. She is buried in the Baxter Springs, Kansas cemetery. [From Eric Andersen][Kelly History.FTW]

Sadie Virginia Hardin, daughter of Ramsey and Caldonia Belle (Carroll) Hardin, appears with her parents on the 1900 Federal Census in Carmi, White County, Illinois (enumeration district 110, supervisor's district 14, sheet 25A). That census shows six month-old Sadie and her father were born in Illinois and that her mother was born in Kentucky. The census shows that Sadie was born in January 1900.

She also appears on the 1910 Federal Census in Carmi, White County, Illinois (enumeration district 135, supervisor's district 15, sheet 7B), still living with her parents. That census shows ten year-old Sadie and her father were born in Illinois and that her mother was born in Kentucky.

Sadie also appears on the 1930 Federal Census in Baxter Springs, Cherokee County, Kansas, living on Cleveland Avenue with her husband. That census shows thirty year-old unemployed Sadie and her father were born in Illinois and that her mother was born in Kentucky.

     Joyce Yvonne Kelly, the eldest daughter of Harry Floyd and Sadie Virginia (Hardin) Joseph Kelly, grew up in Baxter Springs, Kansas. Following the death of her parents in 1936, Joyce was raised by her paternal Aunt and Uncle, James Elbert and Mollie Louise (Kelly) Fagg. She was a member of the high school glee club and a sextet, participating in two school plays. Joyce would spend weekends with her paternal Aunt and Uncle, Harry Russel and Josephine Ione (Kelly) Doan, tending the soda fountain in their pharmacy in Miami, Oklahoma. It was there that she met Loren Orville Andersen on October 9, 1943. Loren had been sent by the United States Army Air Corp to Miami to attend flight school with the Royal Air Force, who had been sent to the United States to learn to fly due to heavy bombing in England during World War II.

Joyce moved to Chicago, Illinois following graduation from Baxter Springs High School in 1944. She lived in a girls club while attending business college in Chicago. It was at the Methodist Temple in Chicago where Loren and Joyce were wed on October 13, 1944, and after a brief two day honeymoon at the Edgewater Beach Hotel, Loren returned to duty in Jorhat, India. Joyce moved to Tacoma, Washington to await Loren's discharge which came on January 2, 1946.

Joyce worked for Day's Tailor-d Clothing in Tacoma. Joyce later went to work for Seattle First National Bank as Secretary to the Consumer Credit Department, and then was employed by various State of Washington agencies, including Department of Labor and Industries and Department of Personnel. Joyce retired from the State of Washington with a medical disability (diabetes) on November 30, 1984.

Joyce enjoyed many years of camping, knitting, reading, cooking, and a long running membership in the Ruth Rebekah, Ladies Auxiliary of the IOOF (like her mother), where she achieved Noble Grand.

     Olen Gene Kelly (aka Gene), son of Harry Floyd and Sadie Virginia (Hardin Joseph) Kelly, was first raised by his cousin, Elenore Ione (aka Ella) (Sikes) Collins, when his parents died in 1936. When Ella died in a car accident on March 9, 1947 in near Pittsburg, Kansas, in which Gene was also in, Gene went to live his his brother and sister-in-law, Harry Floyd Junior and Jewel (Newton) Kelly, in Miami, Oklahoma.

Gene served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1969, receiving not only the Bronze Star Medal for heroism but the first through tenth Oak Leaf Cluster for meritorious service (with high recognition for his participation in the Viet Nam Conflict). Many years later, he became a Quality Control Inspector for Kelly-Springfield Tire Company in North Carolina.

Olen Gene Kelly married Carrie Jo South, daughter of William Erby and Maudie May (French) South, who taught school in North Carolina for a number of years. They were divorced for a brief time in 1954, and married again on January 1, 1955 in El Paso, Texas.

Jewel Iamo Newton, eldest daughter of William Edgar and Mamie Vivian (Graham) Newton, appears on the 1930 Federal Census in Miami, Ottawa County, Oklahoma (enumeration district 13), living with her parents. That census shows seven year-old Jewel was born in Oklahoma and that her parents were born in Missouri.

She married Harry Floyd Junior Kelly, son of Harry Floyd and Sadie Virginia (Hardin) Kelly, on October 20, 1939 in Columbus, Cherokee County, Kansas.

She retired as Director of Central Nursing Services in Brea, California in 1984.

Jewel passed away November 15, 1999 in Kingman, Mohave County, Arizona and was cremated. She was buried in the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery in Miami, Ottawa County, Oklahoma on September 24, 2003.

William Edgar Kelly, the youngest son of Harry Floyd Junior and Jewel (Newton) Kelly, married Bonnie L. Bruce. There were two daughters born to their union. William Edgar Kelly died as a result of a gunshot wound and is buried in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Rowland Heights, California.

James B. Walden (aka "Doc"), son of Joseph Peyton and Mary Susan (Wright) Walling, married Clara Eleanor Lundy, daughter of John Amos and Rachel Jane (Kelly) Lundy.

He appears on the 1910 Federal Census, living in Cedar, Carroll County, Arkansas (enumeration district 52, sheet 6A). That census shows 41 year-old James, a county road overseer, was born in Missouri and that his parents were born in Tennessee. He reported that he had been married for eleven years.

Lida Walden, daughter of James B. and Clara Eleanor (Lundy) Walden, appears on the 1910 Federal Census, living with her parents in Cedar, Carroll County, Arkansas (enumeration district 52, sheet 6A). That census shows 10 year-old "Liva" was born in Arkansas.
