A search of the 1880 Federal Census found only one John Harrington born in Arkansas between 1872 and 1880. That search resulted in a John Harrington, born about 1872 in Arkansas, the son of James and Sarah Harrington (Hardin, Faulkner, Arkansas census). That census shows eight year-old John and his mother were born in Arkansas and that his father was born in Tennessee.

He married Louisa Harriett Denham, daughter of Arthur William and Alverretta (Kelly) Denham.

John Harrington appears on the 1920 Federal Census in Pittsburg, Crawford County, Kansas as 43 year old telegraph lineman. That census shows his parents were born in Georgia.

He also appears on the 1930 Federal Census in Pittsburg, Crawford County, Kansas (enumeration district 28). That census shows 53 year-old John was 27 years old when he married, and that he was born in Arkansas. He reported that his father was born in Georgia and that his mother was born in North Carolina. He was a lineman for the railroad.

He is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma.

Lorena Harrington, daughter of John and Louisa (Denham) Harrington, appears on the 1920 Federal Census in Pittsburg, Crawford County, Kansas (enumeration district 106) as a 12 year old living with her parents. That census shows she was born in Missouri and her parents were born in Arkansas.

She married Harold Northcutt, and was living in Tyler, Smith County, Texas in 1972 when her mother passed away.

Her obituary appeared in the March 22, 1985 edition of the Tyler Morning Telegraph, Tyler, Smith County, Texas. She is buried in the Cathederal of the Pines Cemetery in Tyler, Smith County, Texas.

Bessie Mae Hardy, daughter of William Morrison and Viola (Ramsey) Hardy, married Kimball Himpion Denham, son of Arthur William and Alverretta (Kelly) Denham.

Twenty-five year-old Bessie appears on the 1920 federal census in Delaware County, Oklahoma, living with her husband, Kimball Denham. That census shows she was born in the Cherokee Nation, that her father was born in Arkansas and that her mother was born in Illinois.

She appears on the 1930 Federal Census in Grove, Delaware County, Oklahoma (enumeration district 16) as Bessie M. Denham. That census shows 35 year-old Bessie was married when she was 20 years-old and that she was born in Oklahoma, that her father was born in Arkansas and her mother was born in Illinois.

Bessie is buried in Southwest City Cemetery, Southwest City, McDonald County, Missouri.

     Earl Denham, son of Kimball H. and Bessie (Hardy) Denham, married Alice Marie Young, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Young. Alice graduated from Shawnee (Oklahoma) High School. Earl Denham, who lived for awhile in Southwest City, Oklahoma, was employed at the Denham Electric Company. They first established their home in Shawnee, Oklahoma. [From Eric Andersen]

Alice Marie Young, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Young, graduated from Shawnee (Oklahoma) High School. She married Earl Beason Denham, son of Kimball H. and Bessie (Hardy) Denham. Alice is shown as a survivor in her husband's obituary in 1998.

Mary Elizabeth Holland's marriage to John Duke Kelly, recorded in Benton County, Arkansas, was on December 20, 1882. That marriage record shows Mary Elizabeth as M. E. Holland and gives her age as 17. Her mother's name was Rebecca, who may have been married three times; to men named Holland, Craig, and Austin.

Sophronia Rebecca (aka Frona) Kelly, daughter of John Duke and Mary Elizabeth (Holland) Kelly, first married James Fields. A brief biography for her appears in the book Heritage of the Hills - A Delaware County History:

"Frona married Jim Fields and had one daughter, Lillian who married Jess Gish. When Jim Fields died, Frona married Murphey Wilson of Zena and they had two children, Rose Ann who married Bill Morris, and Dee, a teacher who married Jimie Capehart, daughter of Lee and Lizzie Capehart."

Sopronia Rebecca (Kelly) Fields appears on the 1910 Federal Census in Grove, Delaware District, Oklahoma as a 25 year old widow living with her brother, Thomas Kelly. She also appears on the 1920 Federal Census in Delaware County, Oklahoma, giving her age as 36.

An undated obituary for Sopronia Rebecca Kelly states:

"Services for Mrs. Frona Wilson, 90, Jay, who died Thursday, March 21, 1974 in an Albuquerque, N.M. hospital, were conducted, March 25, at the Zena Baptist Church. The Rev. Ward Allen and the Rev. Wesley Graver officiated. Burial was in the Zena Cemetery under direction of Lawson Funeral Home. Mrs. Wilson was born October 4, 1883 in Benton County, Arkansas, and moved to Delaware County as a child. Her husband, Murph Wilson, died February 14, 1951. Survivors include a son, Dee Wilson, Albuquerque; two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Gish and Mrs. Rose Ann Morris, both of Albuquerque, seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild."

Her obituary also appeared in the March 22, 1974 edition of the Albuquerque Tribune, Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico. She is buried in Zena, Delaware County, Oklahoma.

John Joseph Kelly, son of John Duke and Mary Elizabeth (Holland) Kelly, appears on the 1910 Federal Census in Wallace Township, Benton County, Arkansas (enumeration district 33). That census shows 26 year-old John was living with his grandmother, Rebecca Austin and that he and his father were born in Arkansas and that his mother was born in Missouri.

A brief biography of John Joseph Kelly, son of John Duke and Mary Elizabeth (Holland) Kelly, appears in the book Heritage of the Hills - A Delaware County History:

"John Joseph Kelly, the oldest son, married Lillie Savannah Milstead in 1907 and they had three children: Lizzie, Clyde, and Lodema."

He appears on the 1930 Federal Census in Bernice, Delaware County, Oklahoma (enumeration district 12) as John J. Kelley. That census shows 45 year-old John, a farmer, was married when he was 20 years old and that he and his mother were born in Arkansas. He reported that his father was born in Missouri.

John's obituary appeared in the December 13, 1973 edition of the Delaware County Journal, Delaware County, Oklahoma. He is buried in Zena, Delaware County, Oklahoma.

     Thomas Kelly, son of John John Duke and Elizabeth (Holland) Kelly, has a brief biography in the book Heritage of the Hills - A Delaware County History:

"Tom Kelly, the second son, was also a farmer near Zena. He married Lula Fields Kelly and they have four children: Leona who lives in Needles, California; Denver who died in the service of his country; Betty Lou who is a custodian in a children's home in Joplin, Missouri; and Helen a nurse in Joplin, Missouri."

The only known information regarding Thomas Kelly's daughters is that Leona married Roy Stevenson and Betty Lou married Lloyd Swadley. No other information is available. [From Eric Andersen][Kelly History.FTW]

Thomas Kelly, son of John John Duke and Mary Elizabeth (Holland) Kelly, appears on the 1910 Federal Census in Grove, Delaware District, Oklahoma as a 22 year old farmer. He also appears on the 1920 Federal Census in the same area.

He has a brief biography in the book Heritage of the Hills - A Delaware County History:

"Tom Kelly, the second son, was also a farmer near Zena. He married Lula Fields Kelly and they have four children: Leona who lives in Needles, California; Denver who died in the service of his country; Betty Lou who is a custodian in a children's home in Joplin, Missouri; and Helen a nurse in Joplin, Missouri."

He appears on the 1930 Federal Census in Jay, Delaware County, Oklahoma (enumeration district 8). That census shows 42 year old Thomas, a farmer, was born in Oklahoma, that his father was born in Missouri and his mother was born in Arkansas.

     William LeRoy Kelly, son of John Duke and Mary E. (Baker) Kelly, was first married to Bertha Melvina Williams. Following her death in 1917, William (aka Roy) married Juna Adaline Praytor, daughter of Francis Marion and Rosie Elizabeth (Allen) Praytor.

A brief biography for both William LeRoy Kelly and Juna Adaline Praytor (and her family) appears in the book Heritage of the Hills - A Delaware County History:

"Roy Kelly was the youngest son of John Duke Kelly. While Juna helped raise Melvina who married Lloyd Pace and lives in Alluwe, and Ernest a teacher in Tulsa who married Zanoma Wood, she also had three children of her own: Earl Kelly, Principal of Grove Elementary and farmer, married Maxine Boydstun and they have three children: Aloma Jo, Bob and Earlene."

Excerpts from Juna Adaline Praytor's family biography, from the book Heritage of the Hills - A Delaware County History, include:

"Another hard working family of the Zena community on their farm southwest of Zena was the Praytors. Francis Marion Praytor was born in South Carolina August 27, 1862. His wife Rosie Elizabeth Allen was born in North Carolina September 8, 1866. Both families migrated west to Sulphur Springs, Arkansas, where Francis Marion and Rosie Elizabeth met, married and lived until the end of the century...in 1900, they moved into Indian Territory and settled near Zena where their other children were born..."

William LeRoy Kelly (aka "Roy"), son of John Duke and Mary Elizabeth (Holland) Kelly, appears on the 1920 Federal Census in Delaware County, Oklahoma, giving his age as 30.
He was first married to Bertha Melvina Williams. Following her death in 1917, William (aka Roy) married Juna Adaline Praytor, daughter of Francis Marion and Rosie Elizabeth (Allen) Praytor. They appear on the 1920 Federal Census in Delaware County, Oklahoma.

A brief biography for both William LeRoy Kelly and Juna Adaline Praytor (and her family) appears in the book Heritage of the Hills - A Delaware County History:

"Roy Kelly was the youngest son of John Duke Kelly. James Fields was one of ten children born to Richard Timothy and Laura Jane (Hampton) Fields.

Lillian Fields, daughter of James and Sophhronia Rebecca (Kelly) Fields, appears on the 1910 Federal Census in Grove, Delaware District, Oklahoma. She was five years old at the time the census was taken, and living with her mother and uncle Thomas Kelly.

Lillian appears on the 1920 Federal Census in Delaware County, Oklahoma (enumeration district 29) living with her mother and step-father, giving her age as 15. She attended Grove High School in Grove, Delaware District, Oklahoma.

She married Jesse Franklin Gish, son of David and Lula (Reed) Gish. Lillian was a homemaker until approximately 1950, when she sold her Indian land allotment and, together with Jesse, opened their own business.

Lillian's obituary appeared in the Sunday, May 2, 1999 edition of the Albuquerque Journal. She is buried in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Murph Wilson appears on the 1910 Federal Census in Delaware County, Oklahoma (Enumeration District 63). That census shows Murph was a 34 year-old boarder of the Hardy family and that he was born in Arkansas. That same census shows that his father was born in Georgia and that his mother was born in Tennessee.
