Dee Duke Wilson, son of Murphey and Sophronia Rebecca (Kelly Fields) Wilson, appears on the 1920 Federal Census in Delaware County, Oklahoma (enumeration district 29), giving his age as five. Dee, a teacher, graduated from Grove High School, Grove, Delaware District, Oklahoma. He attended Miamia Oklahoma University and graduated from North Eastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

Dee married Jimie Lee Capehart, daughter of Lee and Lizzie Capehart.

His obituary appeared in the August 21, 1993 edition of the Albuquerque Journal, Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico.

Hubert Bowyer, son of Frank and Etta (Grout) Bowyer, discovered he had a defective heart valve and went to Philadelphia for a pioneer open hear surgery. He died at age 31 following surgery. His obituary appeared in the October 24, 1958 edition of the Albuquerque Journal, Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico. He is buried in Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque.

Rebecca Bowyer, daughter of Hubert and Dorothy Yolonda (Gish) Bowyer, graduated from Canfield High School, Canfield, Ohio. She attended and graduated from Kent State University. Rebecca is a Speech and Hearing Therapist in Austintown, Ohio public schools.

Jimie Lee Capehart, daughter of Lee and Lizzie (Christopher) Capehart, taught school in Oklahoma and for the Indian Services before relocating to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1953. She was both a teacher and a Special Education Coordinator in Albuquerque. Jimie was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church.

She died June 3, 2003 in Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico. Her obituary appeared in the June 6, 2003 edition of the Albuquerque Journal. She buried in Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque.

Lillie (Mildstead) Kelly appears on the 1910 Federal Census in Wallace Township, Benton County, Arkansas (enumeration district 33). That census shows 20 year-old Lillie was living with her husband and his grandmother, Rebecca Austin, and that she and her father were born in Arkansas and that her mother was born in Oklahoma.

She appears on the 1930 Federal Census in Bernice, Delaware County, Oklahoma (enumeration district 12) as Lillie Kelley. That census shows 40 year old Lillie was 17 years old when she married and that she and her parents were born in Arkansas.

     Clyde Joseph Kelly, son of John Joseph and Lillie Savannah (Mildstead) Kelly, married Anna Mae Praytor. Clyde was a Jay, Oklahoma merchant. They had two children; Joseph, who died in a traffic accident when he was in the second grade, and Mary Ann. [From Eric Andersen][Kelly History.FTW]

Clyde Joseph Kelly, son of John Joseph and Lillie Savannah (Mildstead) Kelly, was born in Delaware County, Oklahoma, seven years after the County was established.

He appears on the 1930 Federal Census in Bernice, Delaware County, Oklahoma (enumeration district 12) as Clyde Kelley. That census shows 15 year old Clyde was born in Oklahoma and that his parents were born in Arkansas.

He attended Zena Oklahoma schools and graduated from Grove High School in 1933.

Clyde migrated to California in the 1930's, where he found work havesting lima beans.

He joined the Navy, and married his childhood sweetheart, Anna Mae Praytor, daughter of Ollie and Leila Praytor, who were also Delaware County, Oklahoma pioneers.

After the war, Clyde and Anna Mae (Praytor) Kelly returned to Delaware County, Oklahoma, and opened a grocery store, living in the the rear of the store. In addition to reinvesting their profits in expanding their business, Clyde and Anna Mae became involved in community development; advocating for their town's Huckleberry Festival, joining with others to set up a bean canning plant and chicken processing plant, and took the lead in gathering investors and private donations to build Delaware County's first hospital (now in the hands of the Cherokee Nation).

The only time Clyde and Anna Mae invested their money outside Delaware County was when they and other Delaware County residents bought the rights to a Texas oil lease. Amazingly, they struck oil, and brought a portion of Texas oil wealth to Delaware County.

Clyde and Anna Mae were strong supporters of the First Baptist Church. They helped it grow from a small frame building to a multi-building complex. They were also active in establishing Delaware County's Historical Society.

Anna Mae Praytor was born to Ollie and Lelia Praytor in Zena, OK. She graduated from Grove High School in 1940 and attended Tulsa Business College.

During the war, Anna Mae worked as a court reported in the Delaware County courthouse. Her childhood sweetheart, Clyde Kelly, was in the navy. Anna Mae went to California in 1944 where she and Clyde were married.

The young couple returned to Delaware County, OK, after Clyde was discharged from the navy in 1946 and immediately went into the grocery business.

Their first born, a son named Joseph, was killed in a tragic accident when he was seven, across the street from he family store. Their daughter, Mary, was born later and still manages the Kelly business.

Anna Mae was involved in many civic organizations besides the Delaware Historical Society; the Jay Business and Professional Women's group, Jay Garden Club, Jay Chamber of Commerce. She and her husband were also strong supporters of the First Baptist Church in Jay, OK.

Anna Mae's greatest joy was making other people laugh. She overcame many obstacles, yet she always managed to retain her natural capacity for love, acceptance and forgiveness. She made others continually evaluate the precious gift of life and how we treat one another.

She is buried in Zena Cemetery, Zena, Delaware County, Oklahoma.

Joseph Kelly, first child of Clyde Joseph and Anna Mae (Praytor) Kelly, died at age seven when he was struck down by a car across the street from his parent's grocery business.

Juna Adaline Praytor was one of nine children born to Francis Marion and Roise Elizabeth (Allen) Praytor. She was born near Turkey Ford in Delware County, Oklahoma. She was baptized at age 15 in Drowning Creek.

She married William Leroy Kelly, son of John Duke and Mary E. (Baker) Kelly, on May 25, 1919 at her father's home. The Reverend T. K. Hogan presided.

Juna appears appears on the 1920 Federal Census in Delaware County, Oklahoma, with her husband, William Leroy Kelly, giving her age as 19. That census shows she was born in Oklahoma, but her parents were both born in North Carolina.

The first ten years of her marriage were similar to her childhood. She made pin money selling eggs for 10 to 20 cents a dozen. Eventually, Juna became Zena, Oklahoma's postmaster, a post she held for 26 years. She quit in 1956.

Excerpts from Juna Adaline Praytor's family biography, from the book Heritage of the Hills - A Delaware County History, include:

"Another hard working family of the Zena community on their farm southwest of Zena was the Praytors. Francis Marion Praytor was born in South Carolina August 27, 1862. His wife Rosie Elizabeth Allen was born in North Carolina September 8, 1866. Both families migrated west to Sulphur Springs, Arkansas, where Francis Marion and Rosie Elizabeth met, married and lived until the end of the century...in 1900, they moved into Indian Territory and settled near Zena where their other children were born..."
